The rise of the electric taxi in London and across Europe

LEVC goes from strength to strength

The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) is at the forefront of electric vehicle technology and responsible for delivering thousands of electric black cabs to the streets of London and major cities across Europe. Back in August of this year, the Geely-owned company celebrated as the 2,500th TX electric taxi rolled off its production line at LEVC headquarters near Coventry.

Since the project’s inception in 2014, the company set out to “distil over 70 years of cab-building knowledge into an all-new leader in urban zero-emissions mobility” according to CEO, Joerg Hofmann. The endorsements from cab drivers are compelling and the vehicle is a hit with passengers due to its comfort, space and connectivity.

September was a record month for the company with 352 electric TX taxis sold, with October coming in as the second-best sales month in history. LEVC’s product range will expand in 2020 with the launch of a new electric light commercial vehicle and the TX Shuttle version of the TX taxi.

The emergence of greener alternatives to traditional diesel London Taxis is much welcomed by the team at Taxi Advertising. Owner, Winston Thomas commented:

“I’m delighted to see new electric taxis from both LEVC and Nissan entering the London market. This will help cement the black cab trade’s position as the premium taxi choice in Central London over the next few years.

“It also gives our advertisers an opportunity to be associated with leading edge, green technology and opens up a new advertising format for companies that may have been concerned with fossil fuel associations in the past.”
